New Car Service in Woolloongabba

Engines that operate through internal combustion rely on large amounts of clean air to ensure the fuel burns properly and generates the power needed to drive the vehicle. At New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd in Woolloongabba, we understand how vital it is to keep your car's air filter in good condition as part of protecting your engine's health. Your engine requires extremely clean air to function efficiently. Dirt, dust, and other particles entering the engine can cause serious damage. That’s where the air filter comes into play. It ensures the air entering the combustion chambers is clean, shielding key engine components such as the pistons and cylinders from wear and damage. Why Replace Your Air Filter? Save on Fuel Costs: Your engine requires the correct balance of fuel and air to run efficiently. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, causing your engine to run inefficiently – often referred to as ‘running rich.’ This not only puts additional stress on your engine but can also increase fuel consumption by up to 10%. No one likes spending more on petrol than necessary! Protect Your Engine: Over time, air filters become clogged and weaker, increasing the risk of damage. A damaged or overly dirty air filter can allow harmful particles to enter the engine, potentially leading to expensive repairs. Benefits of Replacing Your Air Filter: Extends the life of your engine Improves fuel efficiency Reduces vehicle emissions At New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd, we always check the condition of your air filter during every full car service. Whether it’s a major or minor service, or one that follows your manufacturer’s handbook or logbook guidelines, you can trust us to keep your engine running smoothly.

Keep your engine healthy with clean air filters. Improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend engine life. Visit New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd for expert maintenance and reliable car servicing.

Ford Ranger Raptor Lift Kit & Alignment Case Study The Ford Ranger Raptor is built for off-road driving, but many owners want to take their vehicle’s capability and appearance further with larger wheels, bigger tyres and a suspension lift.

At New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd, the team regularly installs lift kits on Ranger Raptors for customers who use their vehicles for weekend adventures, touring and off-road driving. However, fitting a lift kit is more than simply raising the suspension. The vehicle’s electronic suspension systems and wheel alignment also need to be correctly set up afterwards. Why Does a Ranger Raptor Need Ride Height Calibration After a Lift? The Ranger Raptor uses sophisticated electronic systems to monitor and control aspects of its suspension and vehicle dynamics. Changing the vehicle's ride height can alter the readings provided by the ride height sensors.

After installing a lift kit, a Ford-programmed scan tool is required to perform the appropriate ride height calibration. This allows the vehicle's systems to recognise its new ride height and helps ensure the suspension and related electronic systems operate correctly.

A custom wheel alignment is also essential because changing suspension height can alter wheel geometry. The Ranger Raptor Lift Kit Installation For this type of upgrade, the technicians at New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd begin by inspecting the vehicle and confirming the suspension components and lift kit are suitable for the intended application.

Once the lift kit has been installed, the vehicle's new ride height needs to be accurately established and calibrated using a Ford-programmed scan tool.

This is an important step that can easily be overlooked when modifying a modern 4WD.

The technicians then carry out a custom wheel alignment rather than simply applying generic factory alignment settings. The final settings can be adjusted to suit the vehicle's modified suspension and intended use, while helping maintain predictable handling and even tyre wear. Why Is a Wheel Alignment Important After a Suspension Lift? Changing ride height changes the angles at which the suspension and wheels sit relative to the road.

If the alignment is not correctly adjusted, a lifted Ranger Raptor may experience: Uneven or accelerated tyre wear Steering that does not feel quite right Reduced straight-line stability Changes in handling Increased stress on suspension and steering components For an owner investing in larger wheels, tyres and suspension, getting the alignment right helps protect that investment. Before & After: Ranger Raptor Suspension Upgrade The before-and-after images accompanying this case study show the difference a suspension lift and larger wheel and tyre combination can make to the Ranger Raptor.

Before: The vehicle is shown in its original configuration before the suspension upgrade. After: At the same time as the lift kit installation, the team fitted KMC IMS wheels with 35-inch Maxxis tyres, giving the Ranger Raptor the larger wheel and tyre package the owner was looking for. The combination was selected to complement the suspension upgrade and provide the additional ground clearance and off-road capability required for the vehicle’s intended adventure and off-road use.

Once the suspension, wheels and tyres were fitted, the vehicle underwent ride height calibration, followed by a custom wheel alignment to ensure the modified setup was correctly adjusted. Why Professional Calibration Matters on a Modern 4WD Modern 4WDs are considerably more electronically integrated than older vehicles. Suspension modifications can therefore involve more than mechanical installation.

Using the appropriate Ford-programmed diagnostic scan tool allows the technicians to communicate with the vehicle's electronic systems and perform the required ride height calibration.

This is one reason it is important to have suspension modifications carried out by a workshop with the equipment and knowledge required for the particular vehicle.

A lift kit that has been mechanically installed but not correctly calibrated and aligned may not deliver the driving experience the owner expected. Built for Bigger Adventures For Ranger Raptor owners in Woolloongabba and surrounding Brisbane areas, a suspension lift can be part of a larger vehicle setup designed for camping, touring and off-road adventures.

Whether the vehicle spends its weekends exploring tracks or is simply being prepared for its next adventure, New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd can help ensure the mechanical and electronic aspects of the upgrade are properly addressed.

As a local Woolloongabba mechanic, the team understands that a 4WD modification needs to work properly on the road as well as when the bitumen ends. The New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd Difference New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd is an independently owned Repco Authorised Service centre, giving local motorists access to expert technicians, quality parts and the support of a nationwide automotive service network.

This Ranger Raptor case study demonstrates the importance of looking beyond the physical installation when modifying a modern 4WD. Correct lift kit installation, Ford ride height calibration and custom wheel alignment all work together to help deliver a safe, reliable and well-sorted vehicle.

If you are considering a Ford Ranger Raptor lift kit, larger tyres or wheels, suspension upgrade or wheel alignment in Woolloongabba, contact New Gen Mechanical Pty Ltd to discuss your requirements with the local team.
